All of them are very yummy and grounding. Really helps me to sleep at night. :)

Absolutely delicious!

The best afternoon pick me up. Love the flavour of this cacao and that it’s pre-ground making it so easy to prepare. Highly recommend!

Mexican cacao

Love this cacao. So delicious. I look forward to it every morning 🌄

Delicious

The Mexican cacao is delicious. So smooth and creamy. I used to drink hot chocolate as my comfort drink. No more. The Mexican cacao is too good to even compare with hot chocolate. 😋

Soma Portable Blender

Elegant, lightweight and very simple to use. The Soma Portable Blender froths the cocao drink nicely.

A light, refreshing alternative

I love this tea & it's quickly becoming a new favorite. When you want the uplift of a cacao without the heaviness. I enjoy it with a small bit of sweetener & no milk. It's nice cold too, so a good on warmer days. It's worth taking the time to let it steep for 10 minutes & I've even mixed it with some regular black tea. My only "complaint" is that I would like it in a bigger quantity... lol ;)

I love a cup of Soma cacao in the morning.
Absolutely delicious

Delicious, creamy - top quality cacao. Thank you.

The best

I love this cacao and when I taste anything else, it simply doesn't compare. The quality of Soma cacao is second to none, love it!

My favourite afternoon pick me up

I drink soma cacao for its wonderful boost effects, which I find more grounded than coffee, while still being creatively locked in and driven.

If I didn’t enjoy the flavour of coffee so much I would be happy living just with soma cacao. Highly recommended.

Great spoon measure perfectly, lovely feel to it . Highly recommend

Easy and god

Not a bad flavour! I even tried without added sweeteners and it was still drinkable. It’s nice to know I’m drinking a healthy version of my fav hot drink.

Bliss in a cup

I have been enjoying Soma Cacao for a good 18 months or more.
Soma have requested a few times, Would I like to review ? And I have always hesitated because of lack of words to describe how Amazing or Euphoric it really is.
Its Almost a hug in a cup, I am completely addicted, I have tried other Cacaos but this is my favourite.

It’s not bad, but it’s just not particularly good value for money. Out of the each of the three sampler packs I only get 3 or maybe 4 cups of cacao of acceptable strength, giving a price of $4-$5 per cup. On the other hand I can buy a bar of Lindt 90% dark chocolate for $5-$6 on special, finely grate one or two pieces and use that with hot frothed milk to get a similar beverage for $0.50 to $1.00 per cup. Not an identical result I’m sure, but it’s not a bad substitute either.

Great way to kick off your Soma journey.

Plenty in each pack to have 4 or 5 drinks out of. Gives you time to really decide. For example, my first go at the Solomon's I was thinking no, not for me, then next day had another and was like, hmmm not so bad and buy the end of the sample pack I was sold. Loved all 3 in my starter pack so can buy the full packs with confidence now.

Mexican Ceremonial Cacao

Richly delicious and I enjoy it unsweetened. As I move away from coffee, this cacao gives me the boost I need in the morning. I’ll definitely be buying the bigger bag and before the taster runs out!

Campfire bliss

This is our favourite origin so far. It has a deep smoky note, we add a touch of sea salt and it's like magic! Like a warm hug by the fire on a cold winter night. Perfect for Melbourne 🖤

Wake up call!

Absolutely love this cocoa ❤️ so smooth and delicious. I’ve now replaced my coffee with the Soma Cocoa. Much better for you and the effects on my digestive system is so much better!

Nothing special

Nothing special sums it up really. No better than coffee regarding taste, effect, or enjoyment. It’s just like drinking bitter hot chocolate.
The ancient Mexicans clearly didn’t have much else to drink. Pretty boring.

Hi Lincoln,

It's Rose here, the founder of Soma Cacao.

I appreciate your time in sharing your thoughts with us and our prospective customers.

I just wanted to make sure you're aware of the following points as your review suggests some confusion/lack of information:

A) cacao is the main ingredient in chocolate. So naturally it is not dissimilar to a hot chocolate - that's kinda the point 🙂. It's just missing all the unhealthy additives, and because it's minimally processed, maintains the highest concentration of antioxidants (by the way - bitterness is a sign of high antioxidants) and essential minerals. And you, as the consumer, (similar to every coffee consumer), has the power to master the preparation according to your unique tastes and preferences. So if you want it less bitter - add a little more milk or sweetener. A pinch of salt is also a great trick for this (ask any good chef!).

B). We have the Mayans to thank for the multi-billion dollar chocolate industry, not sure if you're familiar of the history of the Spanish conquistadores in Mexico. So I think they were in fact onto something... rather than simply having nothing better to drink.

C). Cacao is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. The is a stark contrast to coffee, which is virtually nutrient free.

D). This particular product is the most highly awarded of any cacao we've come across - think top shelf fine wine. But like fine wine I realise not everyone will appreciate it (not everyone is a wine connoisseur - I'm certainly not!).

E) The effect and enjoyment... well not sure if you were expecting green fairies and rainbows or what 🙂. But of course this is dependent on so many factors. Your sensitivity to stimulants, your diet, your interoseptive awareness, the amount of sleep, exercise or food you've had on any particular day.

In general, as is evident from our reviews across our website, Google and Facebook, it's a dearly loved product, and I hate to think of a bag going to waste. So perhaps you can give it another crack with an open mind, given the above, or you can try it out in one of the many recipes for treats and healthy snacks on the website.

Alternately, I have sent you an email if you'd like to return the product to us instead.

Thanks for your time and consideration,

Rose

A unique flavour experience

The Solomon Islands Cacao certainly does deliver a unique flavour experience.
The smoky scent when you open the bag alone lets you know you’re in for something different.
Along with the smoky flavour there is a dry hint of almonds. In terms of bitterness I find it to sit midway between the Daintree and Mexican cacao with the Mexican being the more bitter.
I call it my campfire cacao.
If you’re after a flavour experience definitely give this one a go.

Delicious

Mexican is my favourite cacao, all the others are good, but this is great 👍

Learning booster

I bought Soma cacao after realising that most of the cocoa that my teen daughter and I were consuming may have heavy metals. We were then entirely won over by the flavour and smoothness. My daughter also feels that she can learn better and is more focussed after having it in the morning before school. Love it

Delicious

A beautiful rich cacao that makes the perfect cup

Beautiful

Love this. Have it every morning instead of coffee and sometimes an extra cup during the day when I want to draw/paint. I feel like it boosts my creativity and gives me that extra push!
