Customers praised this ceremonial cacao as "smooth" and "delicious" with high polyphenol content. Many called it their new favorite, noting its less bitter taste and subtle, nuanced flavor profile. Some found it milder or stronger than expected, with occasional grittiness. Great hot or cold, in smoothies, and pairs well with spices.

Its lovely but also stronger than expected. Maybe ill try the sampler before buying a larger size next time.

So glad you enjoyed it. The Ecuadorian has a really unique flavour profile, so adjusting your preparation with a little less cacao or more milk can help you find what suits your taste best. Our Starter Packs are indeed a good way to explore our range before choosing a larger size. 🤎

My new 2nd fave!

My new second favourite cacao (Daintree is my fave) it’s beautiful with a little ginger & cinnamon. Plus it’s the highest in polyphenols! So win win!!

Ecuadorian Cacao

We liked Ecuadorian Cacao, though perhaps not going to be as favourite. Time will tell. To my taste, it had a slight bitterness, to hubby not so much. It did seem to have some grittiness/sediment at the bottom though. Not something we have found with other blends.

I think this is going to be my new favourite. It is so smooth. I highly recommend.

Equadorian ceremonial cacao

I have been a soma fan for quite awhile now.I have tried all ceremonial cacaos.Having just purchased the new Equadorian cacao,i can honestly say it's not my favourite. When opening the pack,i can really smell berries(almost like red wine)...however,i just find it a very mild cacao flavour. So i will stick to Peruvian cacao. It's less expensive and delivers a beautiful smooth rich cacao flavour.
Thankyou Soma...

Hey Rebecca, Thank you for being a long-time Soma fan. It means a lot to us that you’ve explored all of our origins, and we love how beautifully you described the Ecuadorian notes. Those berry and red wine aromas are exactly what many people adore about that origin, though we completely understand that its lighter, fruit forward profile may not be for everyone.

The Peruvian is such a beautiful, smooth and richly chocolatey classic. We’re glad you’ve found the one that feels right for you. Thanks for your honesty and for sharing your experience with us. It’s always appreciated 🙏

100000/10

This is pure gold. Tastes better than chocolate and isn’t that great because it is ACTUALLY good for you!! A sweeter flavour than some of the other origins which makes it perfect to add into smoothies or yoghurt. Couldn’t recommend more!!!

Ecuadorian Cacao

I usually buy a 500g bag of Mexican & a Peruvian cacao every couple of months as i love them both equally. Last order i ordered a new Ecuadorian 85gm pack to try it out as I have tried every Soma cacao to find my 2 true loves (i feel its my duty haha), I now have a triangle of Cacao loves, the Ecuadorian is as fantastic! Life couldn't get any better really.

disappointed with the flavour profile

A little disappointed with the flavour profile, more muddy than roasted banana.Maybe I just really built this one up in my head, Definitely had better.

Thanks for sharing your honest experience with our new Ecuador origin. We’re sorry it didn’t land as you’d hoped. Everyone’s senses experience cacao a little differently, so what resonates for one person can feel quite different for another.

Thanks Soma Cacao for your great effort to source the ecuadorian cacao for us

Hmm, having the very first cup of this new range of ecuadorian cacao drink did not impress me much. But after having the second cup, this fairly fine unique flavor started to strike me. It is now on my shopping list for good quality cacao .

Chocolatey Red Wine

As with all the other ceremonial cacao offerings from Soma, the Ecuadorian cacao is a wonderful adventure for the taste buds. Its slight purple hue and rich chocolatey red wine flavour is decadent, adventurous ... wait! I'm starting to sound like the screenplay from Chocolat. It's great quality cacao. Get some!

Perfection does exist!

I don’t want to say that this is my new favourite because it may draw attention to it and I’ll find it difficult to order but…THIS IS MY NEW FAVOURITE!
Smooth flavourful perfection! Thank you Soma for continuing to deliver, it’s no small task and it is so very much appreciated. ❤️
